Zanzibar Ferry Terminal leads a Successful First RoRo Operations
At C Concept Design, we are proud to have played a leading role in the successful delivery of key milestones at the Maruhubi Zanzibar Ferry Terminal, commissioned by ZF Devco.
As lead architects and masterplanners—working alongside Borgh Go—we have guided the project from early vision through to operational readiness, ensuring that every aspect of the design responds to the evolving needs of Zanzibar’s maritime infrastructure.
Delivering a Successful Operational Milestone
The completion of the terminal’s operational test, following an earlier successful test run, marks a defining moment for the project. These milestones confirm the effectiveness of our design approach—one that prioritizes efficiency, clarity of movement, and a seamless experience for both passengers and operators.
From the outset, our focus has been on creating a terminal that supports high-performance Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) operations while maintaining a strong sense of place. The results seen during testing—smooth circulation, optimized vessel turnaround, and intuitive passenger flow—are a direct outcome of this integrated design strategy.
Our Role as Lead Masterplanners and Architects
In our role as lead masterplanners and architects, we have taken a holistic approach to the Maruhubi development. This has involved coordinating spatial planning, architectural identity, and long-term scalability, ensuring the terminal not only meets current demands but is also prepared for future growth.
Our collaboration with Borgh Go has been central to this process, aligning engineering systems with architectural intent to deliver a cohesive and resilient infrastructure solution.

Phase 1A Progressing On Site
Following the success of the operational tests, Phase 1A is now underway. As lead designers, we continue to oversee the development of this next stage, maintaining consistency in vision and quality as the project evolves.
